Anglers' logbooks — real catches, private locations

Fishing Codex is where experienced anglers share their logbooks — real records of real catches: the place, the date, the tide and conditions. Unlock an entry and the exact location lands privately in your app. The exact location is never public — the public map shows only a fuzzed ~10 km zone.

What a log entry is

A log entry is the record of a real catch — the exact place, the date, the tide and the conditions it was caught in. Experienced anglers keep logbooks of proven water, built over years of actually fishing it; on Fishing Codex they share those logbooks. Unlock an entry (or claim a free one) and the exact location lands privately on your map in the Fishing Codex app.

Location privacy — how it works

The public map shows only a soft heat glow over a roughly 10 km area — never an exact pin, never a dot you can tap through. The fuzz is deterministic and identical for every viewer: repeat visits, comparing accounts, or paying money can never narrow it down. The exact location unlocks privately only for the person who unlocked or claimed the entry, in their Fishing Codex app. The public can see roughly where fishing activity is — never where the location actually is.

Free and paid entries

Some entries are free to claim — every account gets 3 lifetime claim slots. Free claims give 5-day access (unlimited and permanent with App Pro). Paid entries start at $2.99 USD. Three ways to unlock: a single entry — yours forever; the logbook, live — every new entry they log (a monthly or yearly subscription); or the whole logbook, forever (one lifetime payment). Every unlock delivers the exact location, shown on your private map in the app. All buying happens on fishingcodex.com — the app shows no prices or buy buttons (App Store rules).

How entries are protected — the ~500 m / ~90-day lockdown

Publishing an entry stamps a roughly 500 m lockdown for about 90 days — no other angler can publish a competing entry inside that zone while it is active. It rewards active fishing and keeps every logbook honest: fresh entries from water the angler actually fishes. Unlisting ends the lockdown early. When a lockdown expires, only catches logged after it ended can be published in that area.
