Free entry
A free way for anglers to try one of your entries. Each account gets a daily limit of free claims — the same limit with or without App Pro — and a claim lasts 5 days. You’re notified whenever someone claims one of your free entries.
Publishing your logbook
This guide explains how publishing works: creating your angler profile, connecting your own payment account so each payment comes straight to you, publishing entries and Local Intel, the standard 15% fee with Stripe and card processing fees on top, and what a claimer or buyer receives — that entry’s exact location, on their private map in the Fishing Codex app.
Before you begin
Getting paid
Your own account
You connect your own Stripe account, and buyers pay into it.
Whose sale it is
Yours
The sale is yours: the money goes to you, not through Fishing Codex.
Platform fee
15%
Fishing Codex collects the platform fee at checkout; Stripe and card-processing fees also apply.
What a reader gets
The full entry
The angler’s photos, notes, and the conditions the catch was made in.
Open your dashboard and choose the country you want to be paid in. Paid publishing works only in the countries Stripe can pay out to; your dashboard checks yours straight away. Stripe then collects your identity, business, bank and tax details — and checks who you are — on its own secure pages, not ours.
If Stripe does not support payouts where you live yet, you can still create your profile and publish free (claimable) entries now; paid publishing unlocks once Stripe reaches your country. Use your own identity and your own bank account — Stripe pays the person it verified.
When someone buys from you, the money goes straight from them into your own Stripe account. You are the seller of your own entries. Fishing Codex takes the standard 15% fee, plus Stripe and card processing fees (anglers typically net around 80%).
Stripe pays out to your bank on its own schedule for your account, which depends on your country, your bank, and its checks. Fishing Codex does not promise a fixed payout day.
Publish only entries you have the right to share and that are eligible in the app. After the early-adopter window closes, an entry can be published only if it was caught in the app, after any protection on that area has ended.
Imported entries can be published until Jan 2, 2027 — the same date for everyone; importing itself never closes.
Free (claimable) entries go live straight away, even before Stripe approves you. A paid entry is created right away too, but stays hidden from buyers until Stripe approves your account to take payments — then it appears automatically, with no need to re-publish.
Imported entries and old library photos can no longer be published once the 120-day early-adopter window closes. They stay in your private logbook, and their photos can still go into Local Intel.
When someone publishes an entry, Fishing Codex protects the area around it — roughly 500 m, 12 months for a paid entry and 90 days for a free one. To publish there later, log a fresh catch in the app after that protection has ended.
Publishing your own entry starts that protection for its area.
You are responsible for checking fishing rules, closures, private property, marine reserves, protected areas, rāhui, customary restrictions, and safety before publishing.
A published entry shows its photos, the species and the conditions, your angler profile and the general region — that is what everyone sees. The exact location travels only to the angler who claims or unlocks it, so keep it out of your titles, descriptions, photos and replies.
Photos you publish carry no camera location in their files.

A single entry — yours forever
One payment for permanent access to a single entry — the exact location, shown on the buyer’s private map in the app.
The logbook, live
Every new entry they log: monthly or yearly access to your subscription entries (plus your free entries) for as long as the buyer keeps paying. Publish a new entry and every current subscriber gets it automatically. Separate from App Pro — the optional subscription inside the app that gives the full 14-day forecast, full Best Fishing Times, and advanced stats.
The whole logbook, forever
One payment for permanent access to your whole logbook — every entry you ever publish, now and in the future.
Fishing Codex does not offer discretionary buyer refunds for digital marketplace access. Refunds are provided only where required by applicable law or payment-network process.
If a payment is refunded or reversed, the buyer’s access ends and the money for that sale is taken back out of your account, along with any fee the card network charges.
Create your paid event on fishingcodex.com - competitions and other measured rules can carry an entry fee; challenges, draws and meet-ups always stay free to enter. A guided trip is arranged entirely with the guide, off the platform.
Once it exists, open your event’s page on fishingcodex.com while signed in as its organizer — an Entry settings card appears there for you alone, nowhere else on the page.
Choose how you collect it: through Fishing Codex — entrants pay here on the web, anywhere in the world, the same way people pay for your entries, and Fishing Codex takes its platform fee at your own rate — or arrange it yourself directly with entrants, in which case Fishing Codex takes no fee. Either way, the event lives here on Fishing Codex.
Once entries have been sold, or the event has ended, entry settings lock so nobody’s terms change under them.
